This will be the last punk upload until I grab some more stuff. From California by way of Houston, Texas, D.R.I.'s 'Dirty Rotten LP.' Originally released on 7" in 1982, this 1983 rerelease on the Radical label hosts 22 hardcore punk tracks. For more info check out D.R.I.'s website.A triumphant return to Plastic Tales From The Marshmallow Dimention yesterday. Despite a few technical difficulties the set went well. A lot of staples, but a few new pick-ups as well.
The Space Sounds may have paid off. Or someone else cancelled last minute. Either way, Serious Business gets a shot at the Saturday crowd at SAVALAS (5/7/08). 285 Bedford Ave at South 1st Street. Audio from last week.
Almost passed on this record. Happy as hell I didn't. Punk from the late 70's early 80's New York scene. Often lumped in with No Wave from that period. This is pop rock.
I nice selection of Prog and Hard Rock tracks from around the world. Making stops in Germany, Japan, Argentina, Former-Yugoslavia, Italy, England, and Australia, this collection of songs features progs heavy hitters alongside a few lesser knowns. Highlights include the relentless "Pollo Frito" from Argentina's Crucis. The track's urgency only faulters for a middle section of seering Full House-interlude guitar licks. Also on the spastically driving tip is Le Orme from Italy who seem to include one track like "Ritorno Al Nulla" on each of their albums. Then we've got the Rock in Opposition founders Henry Cow whose sound is equal parts rock and contemporary classical.
Never one to leave a fellow businessman without a helping hand. I guested on Mike McGill's WNYU show A Downtown Affair last Friday. CHECK AUDIO

Spend enough time looking for records in the south and you end up with a crate or two of shitty Christian records. This compilation is dedicated to those that transcend beehive-matching-suit-turdliness. There is some filler for sure, and some things too snoozy for most, but I have to admit I'm a fan of every track on here. Ah, guilty pleasures. This is the last comp for a while as I shift focus toward mixes. Check back for weekly downloads and prepare for a very special Valentine's mix.
Yet more archives from WNYU. President Raygunn's brief tenure on the 89.1 FM psychedelic show Plastic Tales From The Marshmallow Dimension. Shouts to the listener from France and Harald in Bulgaria! Turn on, tune in, drop out.
Fuck a Pink Ranger. Before the Voltron ripoffs, there was Grandizer. A feat of Anterean technology piloted by interstellar-casanova Orion Quest. Japanese-super-robots aside; I ganked the name for my second show on WNYU in the fall of 2005. Intended to showcase sample-based music alongside its sources, the program started out as a cluster fuck of underground Hip Hop and Jazz Funk. Over time the sets became more eclectic, and the sound veered left of center. Tropicalia alongside No Wave, Free Jazz next to classic Soul. There were occasional themed sets to lend some semblance of focus. I've provided a link to the WNYU archives for your listening pleasure. See if you can spot the shows where I was drunk.
Having recently parted ways with WNYU's Plastic Tales From The Marshmallow Dimension, I've decided start up this blog as a way to share music. To save effort as this comes together, I'm providing links to a series of comps I threw together just before graduation. Stay tuned as the site takes form, and prepare for the arrival of this series' final installment, Ultra Mega Active Christ! Enjoy.
